Account

Delete your account.

You can delete your IO reader account and everything stored with it at any time. There are two ways to do it, and both remove the same things. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

In the app

  1. 01Open IO reader and go to Account.
  2. 02Choose Delete Account.
  3. 03Sign in once more to confirm it is you.
  4. 04Confirm. Your data is removed, and you are signed out.

By request

If you no longer have the app installed, or cannot sign in, email contact@ioreader.app from the address on your account, with account deletion request as the subject.

We will confirm the request, delete the account, and write back when it is done — within 30 days, and normally much sooner. We ask you to write from the account address because it is the only way we can tell it is your account.

What is removed

Your account
The sign-in itself, and the token linking IO reader to Apple or Google.
Everything synced to the cloud
Your library, reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, and the notes you wrote — and any book files or covers uploaded to your storage.
Your IO+ membership record
The record that unlocks paid features. This is not the same as the subscription itself — see below.
Everything on the device
The on-device library and reading history, downloaded books and covers, cached images, and your reading settings.

Deleting your account does not cancel IO+

An IO+ subscription is billed by Apple or by Google, not by us, and only they can cancel it. Deleting your IO reader account removes our record of the membership — it does not stop the billing.

Cancel the subscription first — on iPhone in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, and on Android in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions — then delete the account.

What is kept, and for how long

Once deletion completes, your data is gone from the live systems. Residual copies may remain in routine encrypted backups for a limited period before they are overwritten; they are not used for anything, and they are never restored to an account that has been deleted.

Records that we are required to keep — chiefly the purchase records held by Apple and Google for tax and accounting — are outside our control and are retained under their own policies. They contain no reading data.

It deletes the account you signed into

IO reader offers two ways to sign in — Apple and Google. They are separate identities. If you used Apple on one device and Google on another, you may have two accounts, each holding part of your reading.

Deleting one leaves the other untouched, still holding its library. If you want both gone, sign in with each button in turn and delete each one — or email us and we will find them for you.

There is no way to merge two accounts into one. If you are not sure which you are using, the account address is shown in the app under Account.

If you want less than all of it

To clear this device without closing your account, use Settings → Reset All User Data. It removes everything stored locally and signs you out, and leaves the account and anything synced intact.
